Mr. Brandon Kandrack is in his fifth year as Assistant Band Director and Percussion Specialist at Norwin High School and Norwin Middle School and serves as the K-12 Music Department Head for the Norwin School District.  His responsibilities include directing the Concert Band and Percussion Ensemble, serving as Assistant Marching Band Director, and teaching music technology courses at Norwin High School.  He also teaches 7th and 8th grade percussion classes at Norwin Middle School.


A native of Monroeville, PA, Mr. Kandrack is a graduate of Kent State University, where he received his master's degree in music education.  He completed his undergraduate studies in music education and educational psychology at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  While at IUP, he studied percussion with Dr. Michael Kingan, conducting with Dr. Jack Stamp, and piano with Dr. Henry Wong Doe.


Prior to joining the music department at Norwin, Mr. Kandrack taught music in the Franklin Regional School District.  He served for several years as the Front Ensemble Coordinator with the Gateway High School Marching Band and Co-Director of their indoor drumline.  Mr. Kandrack also instructed the marching band, percussion ensemble, intermediate school percussion ensemble, and winter percussion ensemble at Kiski Area High School and was the Assistant Director of the Cavalier Percussion Group.


Mr. Kandrack currently maintains an active studio of private students and freelances around the Pittsburgh area.  He is also a member of several professional organizations, including the Percussive Arts Society, NAfME, PMEA, and WCMEA.
