The Norwin Band

 

 

Mr. Robert Traugh

Mr. Robert Traugh is Director of Bands at Norwin High School where the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and the Norwin Marching Band are under his leadership. In addition to this he also teaches AP Music Theory and Repertoire Classes.

Mr. Traugh received his Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Youngstown State University.  His former teachers include Stephen Gage, Michael Crist, Dave Morgan, Kent Engelhardt, Don McKinney and Scott Koter. 

 

Mr. Traugh is a current consultant, drill writer and arranger for several groups in the Pittsburgh area receiving numerous distinctions and awards.  He is also a freelance trombonist in the Pittsburgh area.  Some of his performance experience includes performances with groups such as the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, Balcony Big Band, and Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corp.  He has also performed with distinguished artists including pianist Jim McNeely, trombonist Jeff Bush, and bassist John Clayton.  In addition to performing Mr. Traugh is an up-and-coming composer/arranger.  His works have been premiered at the 2006 Ohio Music Educators Association Conference by the Youngstown State University Jazz Ensemble I and in 2007 at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Conference by the Kiski Area Jazz Ensemble I.  Mr. Traugh currently resides in West Hempfield- Pennsylvania with his wife Bethany.

Fundraising Events and Activities

The Norwin Band has earned a national reputation of  "Excellence in Action."   Not only are the members of the Norwin Band instilled with the discipline it takes to maintain this reputation, but upholding this tradition requires a tremendous amount of funding to provide the necessary resources.
